‘Flexing it Out

HEEEEY-

It’s been an eventful couple of weeks. The hospital I’m working at has slowly been pushing me out the door, whether they know it or not. And as I approach the end of my employment there, I’ve become anxious and more intentional on my next move. Which, no doubt, has been the best thing for me; because sometimes I need that push to keep me on track and focused on my plans. That being said, I’m back…full throttle on my independent studies to become a reflexologists. Independent? Yes. I recently found out, after an eight month chase of trying to get registered into a Reflexology School, that the state of GA doesn’t require a person to be licensed or certified (at the state or national level) to practice or to have their own clinic.

I have mixed emotions, about these findings; but me being me, there’s no way I’d be able to have reflexology sessions, without proper education. So I’m back studying, reading, taking notes, watching videos, listening to podcasts…just immersing myself back into this world of reflexology. It hasn’t been too difficult, considering my medical background already, but quite intriguing to learn what is happening to an individual, physically and emotionally through the feet.

During this time, I’ve been doing research on becoming nationally certified (through ARCB) in the event Georgia changes her mind and decides certification is required to practice…I’ll already be in the game. Oh, annnd I just became a member of the Georgia Reflexology Organization, because this time I want to be more engaged in this profession than I’ve been as a nurse. Plus it just makes sense to link up with like minded people, who can aid and support me on this venture. I’ve never been satisfied with how health is controlled, yet neglected in my nursing role. So to finally find something on a more holistic platform has been absolutely satisfying and challenging…which I thrive on.

I’ll be looking for a couple of individuals to work with, in order to sit for the certification exam.

Stay tuned for when I make the announcement of needing volunteers…of course, this service will be free since it’ll be clinical work for educational purposes.

Cheers to Happy Feet!
